Camrose, Alberta – May 5, 2020 – While conducting general patrols Police recognized a male who had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and remanded into custody.

Police received a call from a residence regarding a male who was causing a disturbance. The family discussion had escalated into a verbal argument but nothing physical had occurred. The situation was mediated with the aggressor leaving for the evening.

An altercation between two men was observed by a witness who contacted Police. The argument was over one of the males putting garbage into a dumpster that didn’t belong to him. The confrontation escalated to one of the males kicking the vehicle owned by the second male causing minor damage. A mischief charge is pending based on whether the two men can come to an agreement on repairs.

A female contacted Police when a male with a no contact condition attended her residence intoxicated. The male who was thereby breaching his no contact condition with her as well as his curfew was not located. The male is facing two counts of breaching his conditions.

Police were contacted in regards to an assault which had occurred in a residence. Police attended and located an intoxicated male outside the home. The investigation determined that the male had assaulted a female and then made a threatening gesture with a knife toward others in the home. The 36 year old was arrested and is in custody as Police continue with their investigation.

May 4, 2020

On April 21, 2020, Police responded to numerous mischief complaints throughout the City of Camrose where suspect(s) had broken windows to a downtown business, windows to 6 vehicles belonging to citizens of Camrose, 2 windows to the Boys and Girls club van, and damage to a school.

During the investigation Police spoke with several witnesses and obtained an extensive amount of video surveillance near the damaged properties. As a result of this canvass, Police noted a group of individuals who were observed fleeing the area near one of the mischiefs. The same group was observed on other surveillance cameras in the city which abled police with help from the public to identify the people involved. Police then conducted interviews where it was ultimately determined that one youth, who cannot be named pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was responsible. The youth is subsequently facing 9 counts of mischief under $5000.00 and has been compelled to the Camrose Provincial Youth Court.

Police would like to thank members of the public for providing helpful information and the businesses who provided video surveillance relating to this investigation. The collaboration between the public and the police ultimately lead to the apprehension of the individual responsible for causing significant damage in the community.

May 3, 2020

A Police investigation determined two holiday trailers in Camrose that were purchased over the last few months had been reported stolen. The VIN numbers had been altered to disguise the fact that the trailers had been stolen out of the Calgary area over the winter. Police are continuing the investigation.

A woman contacted Police asking for assistance with her son who was intoxicated and causing issues within the home. The 35 year old male who was aggressive with his parents and uncooperative with Police was arrested to prevent further breach of the peace. The male was lodged and released when sober.

While conducting patrols a Police vehicle was nearly struck at the intersection of 48 ave and 68 street. A traffic stop was conducted of the offending vehicle and the male driver was arrested for impaired driving. At Police headquarters the 30 year old provided samples of his breath that were nearly twice the legal limit. Police checks determined that the male’s license was suspended due to an impaired driving conviction in 2017. The male was charged with impaired driving and with driving while suspended.

May 2, 2020

A west-end business contacted Police advising that a female was attempting to leave their store without paying for merchandise. The female who was high on illicit drugs was arrested for breaching her conditions. The property was returned and she was issued a trespass notice.
